EUSKELEC 2023 - OKIN Bread as an Innovative Material for Building the Chassis of a 100% Electric Vehicle
In the latest edition of Euskelec, the ORTZADAR Ikastetxea team from San Sebastián stood out thanks to their creative and sustainable approach. This group of ingenious participants decided to take a unique approach to building their car chassis: they used bread provided by OKIN.
Thanks to their efforts in creating this automobile, they not only won the award for the most sustainable car but also for technical design. ZORIONAK! (Congratulations in Basque)
ABOUT EUSKELEC:
Euskelec is a competition in which students from vocational training centers in the Basque Country design and build a 100% electric vehicle on a common drivetrain base (engine, motor controller, and batteries). The goal is to enhance teamwork among students and establish experimental and creative activity as a pedagogical element for technical knowledge of electric vehicles.
The competition consists of a technical and creative phase with challenges in design, innovation, communication, all documented in a project report presented to an expert jury. There is also a dynamic phase where vehicle performance, features, and design are evaluated through slalom, acceleration, maximum braking, and endurance tests. These tests result in a set of awards highlighting the teams' excellence in various aspects of the competition.
The championship serves as a platform for training and promoting specialized technicians in electric traction vehicles, encouraging the experimentation of new manufacturing techniques and the use of new materials. Participants can address the needs arising from a new mobility model based on electric traction vehicles and emerging industrialization models.
The competition consists of two phases: the technical and creative phase (Phase 1) and the dynamic testing phase (Phase 2). More information is available at https://euskelec.eus/en/competition/
